whatsApp will be free of cost in ios mobile phones here after, it used to charge 0.99$, but made it free for the ios mobiles, due to lot of competition around the Apps, even though they stayed at top ten revenue making apps in the apps store.. WhatsApp is already free in android phones.They gave free for android phones for the first year and there will be 1$ charged for the next year onwards on yearly basis, but there was no news of any charge after the first year. WhatsApp was used by more than 250 millions of people around the globe and more than 27 billions messages are processed through WhatsApp every day..
